It's a family affair at Butterfly Boxes.

Our family's history with refugees goes back to 1961, following the revolution in Cuba. Fearing for their family's safety, our grandparents made the difficult choice to flee their homeland with their ten children. With assistance from Catholic Charities, they ultimately resettled in Portland, OR. 52 years, two generations, and dozens of new family members later, we decided to pay forward the generosity that had allowed our family to flourish in their new home. Since 2013, our extended family has come together to "adopt" one or two recently resettled families over the winter holidays, using our combined resources to provide everything from fresh produce to children's books to major appliances.
We've learned some lessons along the way:
Butterfly Boxes is our answer. With help from our community, we can provide more people with a simple set of basic supplies and a warm welcome. We can make a difference. And you can help. - Adrienne & Alysson |
